MOLLY

Where do I begin to describe our beloved Molly, who came into our lives in 2021 and quickly became the heart of our home? We first met her after waiting four long months for her to be ready for adoption from Belgium. During those extra weeks, she spent precious time with her sister and their wonderful breeder at Hillbilly Heights. When we finally met, it was a truly emotional moment—tears were shed on both sides. One of the sweetest promises we made that day was to never let Molly sleep alone during her first few nights with us.
From the start, Molly's affectionate nature shone through. She has this adorable habit of resting her front paws on your lap as if to remind you to pause and enjoy the present moment with her. It’s her special way of saying, “Take a break, and just be with me.”
Molly also grew up with a cat in the house—first Robin, who was an unexpected help in teaching her a few cat-like qualities, such as how to enjoy downtime and demand attention with a tap of her paw. Now, our current cat, Isak, is her companion, and it’s a joy to see them together. Molly’s time with her human “siblings” has made her a popular cuddle buddy. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch or just relaxing after a long day, she is always eager to be close to us.
She also loves her walks, whether long or short, and where we live, she enjoys being off-leash in the mornings and evenings. Often, our cat Isak joins us for these walks, and it’s quite the sight to see! When we go to our cabin, Molly takes her role seriously as the quiet overseer of the nearby fields of sheep. She never barks—just watches them calmly, as if she’s their queen. But we do keep her on a leash when passing close by, because her playful instincts might kick in, and she’ll want to chase them.
If you’re considering an Old English Sheepdog for a home with sheep or other animals, this breed adjusts beautifully to a variety of environments. For some inspiration, check out Molly the Bobtail on YouTube from Ontario, Canada—she reminds me so much of our Molly!
Molly starts every morning by being my first hug, and she sleeps right outside my door every night. She follows me everywhere, and though she’s equally affectionate with the rest of the family, she can get a little jealous of Isak when he tries to take her spot on my lap. Molly also loves her time at the dog park, where other dogs are drawn to her friendly nature. She’s easy to train, and even off-leash, she never strays far from my side.
Molly is not just a dog—she’s our companion, our guardian, and our joy. Every day with her is filled with love and happiness.
